Sowing maize seed, Hungary – winning photo by Janos Kuta

János Kutas of SynTech Research Hungary was one of the winners of this year’s SynTech staff photo competition with his image of Ferenc Molnár, senior field research biologist, SynTech Research Hungary sowing maize seed treated against Western Corn Rootworm (Diabrotica virgifera virgifera) in a small plot trial. Seed treatments and soil insecticides applied at planting are the only control methods available since transgenic maize hybrids for CRW control are not registered in Hungary.

Other competition winners were Thomas Bouly, SynTech France (Spraying Sunflowers), Houston Howerton, SynTech Lab Services, Kansas (Bee Toxicity Testing) and Gabriel Junquiera, SynTech Brazil (Spraying in Coffee).
